Japanese Noise/Music
An interesting radio article on noise and music. A brief interview on things occurring in the 90’s which mirrors what Cage was trying to do in the 50’s. Paul Hegarty recently published a book called Noise/Music: A history.

Ben! If you want to check out a modern take on Japanese Noise music, you should check out the Japanese band Boredoms. From what I understand, they play avant-garde music in the tradition of LaMonte Young or Terry Riley, but with rock instruments and heavy on percussion. I don’t know how accurate that connection is, but it’s still an interesting and intense listen if you get a chance.
